WELLSPRING CHURCH

Growing in our Faith

1. Bible Reading

Reading the Bible consistently is key to growing in your faith. Scripture reveals who God is, what He’s done, and how He calls us to live. A regular reading habit keeps us rooted in truth, positions us to hear God speak to us through His Word and strengthens our faith.

Here are some ways to start:

  1. Follow a Reading Plan – Try the Robert Murray M’Cheyne Plan, which covers the Old Testament once and the New Testament and Psalms twice in a year (about 4 chapters a day).
  2. Use the YouVersion App – Choose from many Bible plans, including both topical and chronological options.
  3. Read 4 Chapters a Day, 6 Days a Week – That’s enough to finish the Bible in a year. A helpful rhythm: alternate between the New and Old Testaments (e.g., Matthew → Genesis → Mark → Exodus). This keeps your reading balanced and engaging.

We recommend the ESV or NIV Bible translation.
The NIV Adventure Bible Hardcover (for children 6-12yrs)
The Jesus Storybook Bible (for children 5yrs and below)

2. A Quiet Time

A “quiet time” is a daily, intentional moment to connect with God through Bible reading, prayer, and reflection. It’s called “quiet” because it’s a time to still your heart, listen to God, and grow in your relationship with Him.
There’s no one way to do it—some journal, others use devotionals or worship music—but the goal is to spend meaningful time with God.

Discover what time works best for you where you are able to consistently spend time reading, reflecting and praying as you spend time with God on a daily basis.

For couples and families, in addition to quiet times alone, also try set aside regular time—even if it is once a week to start off with—for devotions together, using a devotional book that fits your season of life, whether it’s for marriage, parenting, or teenagers to work through with your spouse and children.

3. Pray

Praying isn’t always easy, but it’s something we can grow in. Even the disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray, and He did.

To develop a strong prayer life, start by reading the Bible and even start to memorize Scripture. Let God’s Word shape your prayers—pray the verses you read. The more Scripture you have in your mind and heart, the more it will naturally become the content of your prayers, building confidence, especially when praying out loud.

On a practical note, find someone whose prayer life you admire and ask if you can meet with them occasionally to learn and pray together. Praying together is powerful. That’s why, as a church, we gather weekly to pray with everyone in the church invited. Fill out the form below to ask for more information about this prayer time.

Surround yourself with people who pray—people who pray together, stay together.

4. Worship and Christian Music

Worship and Christian music can minister to the soul, lift our spirits, and draw us closer to God. In a world filled with noise and distraction, worship music provides a space to reconnect with truth, peace, and purpose. Whether through heartfelt lyrics or Scripture-based songs, it reminds us of God’s love, faithfulness, and presence. Listening to Christian music helps us focus our hearts on what truly matters and invites the Holy Spirit into our everyday lives.

In the car, at home or wherever you listen to music, we would encourage you to discover the many different uplifting and gospel-centered songs that you can listen to, for the young, the teenager and those older.

Teenagers: Forrest Frank, Josiah Queen

5. Study

Studying God’s Word is vital for deepening our faith and gaining a clearer understanding of His will. By engaging with various resources—such as websites, books, commentaries, video series, and podcasts—we can gain a more enriched perspective on Scripture. These tools help us explore the context, history, and deeper meanings behind the text, providing insights that may be missed in a surface-level reading.

However, it’s crucial to ensure that the material you are studying aligns with biblical truth and the theological distinctives’ of Wellspring Church. We encourage members to regularly engage in discussions with their leaders to seek biblical guidance and counsel as they dive deeper into their studies.

For a helpful resource, we recommend netbible.org, which offers features like a basic Hebrew/Greek word study through NET Notes and commentary notes with Constable’s Notes. For visual learners, bibleproject.com is a great starting point, offering clear and engaging content.

For access to a wide range on online books and audiobooks for a monthly subscription, we recommend Everand.com

If you’re interested in studying more theological content, we highly recommend the teachings of the late theologian Dr. Michael A. Eaton, specifically his series titled “The Whole Counsel of God,” available online at michaeleaton.org/whole-counsel-of-god.

6. Church and Getting Involved

Proverbs 13:20 says, “Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise,” reminding us of the powerful influence that the people around us have on our growth and decisions. This verse points to a simple truth: we grow best in community, not in isolation.

That’s why we encourage you to get involved in the life of the church. Make Friday worship services a regular priority—come to worship Jesus with your brothers and sisters, take communion in remembrance of Him, and sit under the preaching of God’s Word. These moments are not just routine; they are rhythms of grace that shape our hearts and lives.

But church is more than just attending a Friday gathering. Church is not something we go to—it’s who we are. The word ecclesia means “the called-out ones.” We are God’s family, His people, called to live out our faith together.

As God continues to shape us into a spiritual family, we want to keep creating spaces where real community and godly relationships can grow. Look out for weekly or monthly small groups, meetups, and hangouts where you can build meaningful friendships, find accountability, and share life with others—over coffee, a meal, or a walk. These connections are where discipleship deepens.

Remember, church was never meant to be a spectator event. It’s a family to belong to, a body to build up, and a mission to be part of—and every person has a role. Take time to explore the different ministries in the church and find out where you can get involved. You are invited to serve—you’re needed.

The unique person God made you to be, and the gifts He’s placed in you, will strengthen what God is doing among us. When you step in, we all grow stronger together.
