WELLSPRING CHURCH

OUR JOURNEY

Before planting Wellspring Church, Clifton and Sarah were involved for many years in the leadership of a church and school in South Africa and following this, in 2012, God made a way for them to move to Qatar and serve in an amazing church for ten years.

The story in Genesis 26:18-22, where Isaac and his servants discovered a well of fresh water and named it “Rehoboth,” saying, “Now the Lord has given us room, and we will flourish in the land,” was instrumental in the formation of Wellspring Church.

Much like with what happened to the Samaritan woman at the well in John Chapter 4, we believe that Wellspring Church is a community (a well of fresh water) that God is shaping where people can encounter the source of living water and enter into and flourish in a relationship with Jesus.

John 4:14:
“But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Come and visit; we would love to meet you! Clifton and Sarah

TYPE OF CHURCH

Being evangelical generally refers to a branch of Christianity that emphasizes certain core beliefs and practices. While the term can vary slightly depending on context, here are some of the key characteristics that define us:

In summary, to be evangelical is to be a Christian who holds a deep commitment to the authority of the Bible, the importance of personal conversion and salvation through Jesus Christ, and the call to share the gospel with others.

Statement of Beliefs

Our ‘Statement of Beliefs’ reflects the core truths that shape our faith and guide our community. These foundational principles, rooted in Scripture and in unity with the historic Christian church, unify us as we follow Jesus together. Statement of Faith:

1. We believe that the Scriptures, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, are the inspired and infallible Word of God. The Bible is authoritative, unchanging, and serves as the foundation for all Christian faith and practice.

2. We believe that there is one God who created all things and exists eternally in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

3. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Further more, we believe in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His
miracles, in His victorious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, His constant intercession, and in His future return.

4. We believe in the person of the Holy Spirit, His regenerating work and His indwelling presence in the true believer at salvation; we believe in the baptism of the Spirit and the continuation of His power to produce fruit, distribute gifts, and enable signs, wonders and miracles today.

5. We believe in the existence of an evil spiritual being known as the devil who rebelled against God, taking a multitude of angels with him. He was cast out of God’s presence and is at work with his demonic hosts to establish his counter-kingdom of darkness on the earth. Satan was judged and defeated at the cross of Christ and will, at the end of the age, be cast into the lake of fire.

6. We believe that humanity was created in the image of God, but voluntarily sinned when tempted by Satan and fell short of God’s righteousness. All human beings descend from Adam and are sinners by nature and by choice, resulting in their spiritual death and their essential need for the new birth, which comes by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.

7. We believe that God will judge the living and the dead. All those who are saved will live forever with Him in the new heavens and new earth, but all those who don’t believe in Jesus will face an irreversible punishment for their sin and rejection of God.

8. We believe in the Church being the body of Christ, with Jesus as the Head, and each member being an active part of a local church, functioning as the priesthood of all believers and fulfilling the Great Commission for the advancement of God’s kingdom.

9. We believe that water baptism by full immersion for those that profess faith in Christ Jesus and the Lord’s Supper are the two ordinances of the church to be observed until Christ returns. They are not a means of salvation, but are sacramental channels of God’s sanctifying grace and blessing to those who have personally and consciously placed their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.

10. We believe that biblical marriage consists only of a faithful, heterosexual union between one biological male and one biological female. We affirm marriage is the only legitimate and appropriate context for a sexual relationship.

Alliance

As an evangelical church in Qatar, we are a member of the Evangelical Churches Alliance Qatar (referred to as ECAQ) which is one among the eight Christian religious organizations / groups officially recognized by the government of the State of Qatar.

ECAQ is a member of both the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) and The Evangelical Alliance of the Middle East and North Africa, which connects it to a global network of evangelical churches and organizations.
